Kaya Collaborative works to activate Filipino diaspora youth as partners to social entrepreneurs, innovators, and communities of purpose in the Philippines.
*balikbayan, n: a diaspora returnee or repatriate to the Philippines.
Over 12 million Filipinos - a 10th of the global Filipino population - live outside the Philippines. At Kaya Collaborative, our mission is to harness the talents, networks, resources, and voices of this global diaspora to support locally-led initiatives for social change in the Philippines.
In the past two years, Kaya Co. has brought 23 young Filipinos back to the Philippines through our summer fellowship: an 8-week experience that centers on a social sector internship and a curriculum on issues and opportunities in the Philippines.
Next year, our goal is to begin scaling this work: to connect 100 balikbayans to opportunities for impact in the Philippines, and from there, to turn this education about the Philippines and People Power into a new rite of passage for Filipino diaspora youth around the world.
Your contributions will fund a team of Filipino youth to lead this next phase of our mission. We are raising $30,000 for 2 full-time roles in the Philippines starting January 2016, both aimed at scaling our programs to 100 individuals annually and beginning to mobilize the next generation of global Filipino leaders at mass scale.
Thank you for being a part of this journey.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and all your donations are tax deductible.

“The Kaya Co. curriculum showed us where we came from so as to reveal where to go next. It was a gradual process of enlightenment, dotted with fits and bursts of inspiration that turned my world upside down.”Sarah Santos, 2015 Fellow
“For many, Kaya Co. will be a memory of when we first tried. When we first accepted our messy assimilation with tenacity rooted in passion, and a strong belief in the learning curve.”Gaby Montinola, 2015 Fellow
“My hope is for all of us to be able to look to this summer spent in the motherland and draw from it the inspiration, strength, and energy to keep building bridges back. As members of the Kaya Co. family, the call will always be to go big and go home.”Gabbie Santos, 2015 Fellow
